North East Region

North East Region is one of the five regions in the city state of Singapore. This region is the highest dense populated region. This region is the fourth largest region in terms of land size with an area of approximately 10,390 hectares. In terms of population, this region is ranked third among the five as of 30 July 2018 with an estimated population of 908,490. The North-East Region has a total of 7 planning areas namely the Serangoon planning area, the Sengkang planning area, the Seletar planning area, the Punggol planning area, the North-Eastern Islands, the Hougang planning area and the Ang Mo Kio planning area.  As of 2018, the Hougang is the most populous planning area in the North Eat Region with an approximate of 247,528 residents living there.

The North-East Region is generally a residential area with an approximately of 217,120 residential housing units which comprises of various types. This region houses the Seletar Aerospace Park which is home to several research and manufacturing facilities by renowned companies in the aviation sector such as Pratt and Whitney, ST Aerospace and Rolls-Royce. The industrial estates in this region such as Ang Mo Kio Industrial zone and Defu industrial park also provide employment opportunities for residents living here.

The region is well served by various major expressways such as the Central Expressway (CTE), the Tampines Expressway (TPE) and the Kallang Paya Lebar Expressway.  Residents are also served by the MRT North South Line, the MRT North-East Line and the MRT Circle Line.
