Rest of Central Region

The Central Region of Singapore is one of the major regions in this city state. It is the primary metropolitan which surrounds the Core Central Area. It has a population density of approximately 18,000 per square metres. As of 2018, this region is home to approximately 925,930 residents. This region has a total land area of approximately 13,150 hectares. Other than the 11 planning areas in the Core Central Region, there is another 11 planning areas. These planning areas include Toa Payoh planning area, Tanglin planning area, the Southern Islands, Queenstown planning area, Novena planning area, Kallang planning area, Geylang planning area, Bukit Timah planning area, Bukit Merah planning area and Bishan planning area.

Though this region is naturally mainly dominated by commercial, particularly in the Downtown Core area, this region also have approximately 335,400 units of residential housing which are of different types that range from public housings to the more exclusive type of private residential such as condominiums, apartments and landed housings. There are approximately 1000 hectares of spaces reserved for greenery that include recreation spaces, gardens and parks that are linked by park connectors. This is particularly abundant in neighbourhoods like Ang Mo Kio and Tiong Bahru.

The Central Region is well served by many major expressways such as the Central Expressway (CTE), the Pan Island Expressway (PIE), the Kallang Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) as well as the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE). In terms of commuting, residents living in the Central Region are served by the MRT North South Line, the MRT East West Line, the MRT Circle Line and the MRT Downtown Line.
